Life Soundtrack: Imagination – Just an Illusion
I can’t think of any other song that teleports me to a certain time and place in the same way as Just an Illusion by the British band Imagination. It was ’82 and I was with my dad on vacation on the Mediterranean island of Mallorca. There was a road from where our hotel was located to the little town of Alcudia, which was lined with restaurants, restaurants and bars. There was also a dance club that looked like a fanciful lit futuristic castle and when we passed there – at least in my memory – more often than not they played Just an Illusion, a major hit that summer.
I was too young to hope to get into that club, so all I could do was dreaming of being older and cooler. Much later I learned that clubs like that are indeed just an illusion.
