LIFE SOUNDTRACK: Depeche Mode – Strangelove
With the summer waning, on the calendar, not exactly weather-wise in NYC yet, I’m thinking of memorable music-related summer moments in my life. One of them was 1987 in the Southern France town of St. Tropez. I was with a friend on a four weeks poset graduation trip and we had casually agreed with other friends to meet at the waterfront of St. Tropez at a certain time, without any of us knowing the place. We did meet and while driving home, the new Depeche Mode single Strangelove was played on the car radio.
That was a moment of utter bliss: done with school, vacation, together with friends and a new Depeche Mode song. Curiously, the video takes place in Paris, which was the first stop on our trip.
