NEW ALBUM: Young Magic – Still Life
You only need to go a minute to two into “Valhalla”, the opener of “Still Life”, the third album of the duo Young Magic and you know that you are up for something special. Singer Melati Malay brought gamelan instruments from her native country of Indonesia and those go very well with the electronic textures that Young Magic is known for. It is music like a tropical landscape, lush and at times menacing. It is an album you can enjoy from the first to the last song, maybe “Lucien” and “How Wonderful” are outstanding tracks.
Melati plays together with Australian Isaac Emmanuel in Young Magic and they are based in Brooklyn, where we saw them live two times. “Still Life” is out now on Carpark Records. Listen on Apple Music or Spotify.
