SONG PICK: Torandaga – After Life
The debut single “After Life” by Toronto-based duo Torandaga is a clever and disarmingly beautiful track. Clever, because subject matter, lyrics and musical interpretation are done in a rather sophisticated way and beautiful because it simply is. There’s a stark contrast between the dark and powerful drum and bass lines and the gorgeous, airy falsetto – reminding me of the songs one of my favorite New York bands, Monogold, would create. Torandaga is comprised of Andrew Juurinen and Jared Bellenie who know each other since kindergarten, have played in a diverse range of musical genres and in different bands and are finally putting their creative energies together.
