PHOTOS: NUEX live at The Standard, East Village

NUEX (pronounced ‘nu’) have enchanted us already with “Eyes” taken from their debut EP “Affectus” (Apple Music | Spotify) and that was before we saw their effortlessly gorgeous live show. Camille Michelle Gray on vocals and Teddy Aitkins on drums and keyboard played the relatively small event space at the top of the Standard Hotel East Village like a big stage and could easily draw away the audience’s attention from the breathtaking Manhattan sunset that was going on around us. One highlight was the moving, quiet rendition of “Billie” inspired by the life of jazz singer Billie Holiday.
