SONG PICK: Ah! Kosmos (feat. Özgür Yılmaz) – Wide (Video)
Behind the artist name Ah! Kosmos is sound designer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Başak Günak. Born in Istanbul and based in Berlin, the artist is about to release her second album “Beautiful Swamp’” out on October 5 via Compost Records.
Listening to “Wide” one can not help but feeling reminded of Pink Floyd’s finest work transported into a more contemporary setting. And then there are clearly some oriental influences and the result is a hypnotic, dark and brooding yet highly delectable track. While the song by itself is already stunning, the visual treatment goes even a few steps further.
The video is directed by Berlin-based Harun Güler, focusing on nature’s four elements air, earth, fire and water as well as the three protagonists. Harun Güler reveals about the project:
“The collaboration between Başak and me was really seamless as we clicked immediately regarding the state of mind we wanted to achieve in this work. As a director, it is an invaluable thing to feel trusted and not being compromised within your creative process.”
