Gal Pal – Mirror

“Mirror” is a fierce new single by the L.A. trio Gal Pal. The video, directed by Will Rydall, shows L.A. from an unusual perspective, with the band members running over grassy hills.

Singer Emelia Austin explains:

“For me, ‘Mirror’ is about the ways we allow our identities to be misshaped by people in our lives, how we are used as reflections for others, and the anxiety over being able to control it or not.”

NEWSKI feat. Matthew Caws – Chemicals

Wisconsin’s NEWSKI, led by Brett Newski, enlist a friend/musical influence on every track for their new LP Friend Rock, out April 7th. The title is a nod to a concept first coined by Sufjan Stevens; when asked in an interview about the music he’s listening to answered, “my friends’ bands.” In their upcoming album, NEWSKI reached out to their biggest musical influences and feature one of them on each track. Their new single and video, “Chemicals,” sees Matthew Caws of Nada Surf in call-and-answer lead vocals.

The enchanting video to poolblood‘s new single was shot on film by Holly Pruner, with special thanks to Sandy and the Model Railroad Club of Toronto. The result is an irresistibly atmospheric little movie, that showcases poolblood’s talent for restraint and beauty in sparseness. Their gorgeous vocals do the rest. If you’re at SXSW this year, go see Maryam Said (she/they), aka poolblood there!
