SONG PICK: Automatic – Too Much Money
Automatic is the trio of Izzy Glaudini (synths, vocals), Lola Dompé (drums, vocals) and Halle Saxon (bass, vocals) and they are based in L.A., but their musical inspiration comes from a different place and time. Playing in bands from a young age, they came together to energize the male-dominated punk scene with fresh ideas.
Their new song “Too Much Money” is delightfully tight and straightforward, designed for delivering its message with a punch. It has a lot from what you could find in the alternative music bin in the corner of an 80s record store, but it also feels perfectly in place here and now. “Signal,” Automatic’s debut album is due out on September 27.
