SONG PICK: Psychic Shakes – Suddenly
Psychic Shakes, the solo project of Brighton-based artist Max McLellnm, knows how to mesmerize listeners with the help of hooks that are an enchanting blend of dreamy meets edgy. No different with his latest single “Suddenly” that features shimmering piano synths as the base for bright guitars and warm and earthy vocals. The distorted guitar solo in the second half of the track serves as an exquisite break from the more laid-back overall vibe.
“Suddenly”, is part of the five-track EP “Unsaid” out on September 25th via Good Eye Records. Max McLellan provides the following insight, which many of us will be able to relate to:
“‘Suddenly’ talks about the outsider mentality of not wanting to be part of a society obsessed with social media. The way humans are now connected in an unnatural way is incredible, and there are many benefits to our newfound connectivity. But sharing, posting, and talking to people online is a weird liminal state that I don’t like being a part of, but in some ways it’s crucial to be part of the machine in order to stay relevant and in touch with people.”
