gglum – Eating Rust

The London singer/songwriter Ella Smoker makes music under the name gglum, which sets the expectation for gloomy, self-reflective bedroom pop. Ella also says: “I’m at a point in my life now where I’m actually pretty happy, and am in a good place to look back,” so her third record The Garden Dream comes from a different angle than her previous work. The record is like a “fever dream,” and the fourth single, “Eating Rust,” gives us hints about where this all came from, as Ella reveals:

“It’s all about a period of my life where I was desperate for one person’s love and approval which I would never get (yet i’d keep on trying anyway). It’s about what inspired the dream that inspired the album.”
