Tom Jenkins – Blame It

When I came across Tom Jenkins, I was immediately in love with his music and way of storytelling. Turns out, Tom is also quite a prolific singer/songwriter, having released the brilliant full-length album It Comes in the Morning, It Hangs on the Evening Sky in 2022,  followed by two EPs, Meadow Pt 1 in 2023 and now Meadow Pt 2. “Blame It” marks the lead single from the latter album, and the track is utterly fascinating and just so beautiful, thanks to the exquisite fingerpicking and Tom’s charming vocals.

Here’s a passionate rock songwriter who is not focussing on music alone but also pursues his profession as a proud sheep farmer. His latest release traces the traditions of this ancient agricultural practice and its place in Welsh folklore and family. Tom explains:

“Wales has a tradition of Shepherd poets and I wanted to capture that sentiment of being a Welsh shepherd myself… Whilst Meadow Pt.2 is an extremely personal and heavy piece of work in parts, it comes to a relief to myself and the listeners that it’s broken up by moments of uplifting songs like “Runaway Now”, “Blame It” and “Back Roads (Country)” to lift the spirits.”
