Matías Roden – Great Escape [Video]
Matías Roden has been honing his songwriting and vocal skills by performing in cover bands and writing for others before focusing on himself. If his second single, “Great Escape,” is anything to go by, there should be more greatness where this came from! “Great Escape” is a bouncy, catchy, and truly beautiful song, perfect for welcoming spring.
The Canadian-Peruvian artist, based in Vancouver, BC has been recovering from a brain injury during the pandemic of all times. “Great Escape” is told from the perspective of depression itself, telling a depressed person they’ll never get over them, like a twisted love song. I found this rather intriguing, especially with the track’s upbeat vibe. For the video, Matías enlisted the creative power of his friend Peter Faint, who worked as an editor on shows for Netflix, Adult Swim, and others. The result is a vibrant video that’s fun to watch.
